I hope an iOS partner app might appear at some point! But if not, no great issue. But again, I'm sure that's on the roadmap!Ī very enjoyable discovery. My only criticism is the lack of support for automatic substitution: a serious writing app really ought to automatically substitute proper "curly" quotation marks and apostrophes for the nasty computer-generated ones. It doesn't have targets yet, but does appear to be under ongoing development. It also has a range of concealed but easy-to-access functions such as a list of snapshots (backups) and a document history, as well as a character count (it would be nice if it had a wordcount, but hey). The structure is very flexible – you can have as many subdocuments as you like (so you're not restricted to the usual Chapter/Section hierarchy), and you can use different icons if you wish (e.g. WonderPen is a writing app for both professional and amateur writers. Docs can be exported as Image, PDF, Word, HTML, etc. Supports full-screen mode, lets you focus on writing. An easy-to-use text editor that supports Markdown. Features Tree view, drag-and-drop to reorder. You can also search in memos, as well as in the actual text itself (even Ulysses doesn't do that!), and the search hits are properly highlighted (something many writing apps don't do). See price drops for the Mac app WonderPen. WonderPen is a writing app for both professional and amateur writers. Something the developer doesn't mention, for some reason, is WonderPen's support for split screens (you can view two documents side by side or one above the other). The almost excessively minimalist interface conceals some powerful functions, including an excellent search function. ![]() I'm something of a connoisseur of writing apps (Scrivener, Ulysses, StoryMill, as well as many others such as MWeb, Novellus, Highland 2, Liquid | Author and so on), and WonderPen is as good as any of them. A classic example of a really useful, thoughtful app that's much less well known than it should be.
